Musings by Magdalene the Muse
Nature
It was in my nature
I could feel the rise of my sensuality
I tried so hard to burrow deep
The shame and guilt of being a sexual being
Held by my hips, chest and waist
My body was a weapon
unsheathed by the disapproval of man
My body is like a fire
Fueling the flames of unwavering desire
It’s in my nature
My beautiful desire of freedom
Free to stretch my erotic frame
Allowing the sun to paint my newest shade
—
Euphoria
the vibrations of the beat infuse my being
I can feel the weight of the world crack
crumbling away with each movement
I can no longer hide the feelings of peace
falling deeper into the trance
a state I hold sacred
dance is my way to be free
raves have always been my safe house
dancing away the mundane
releasing every ounce of guilt
experiencing utter euphoria
—
Love
Love was the most natural thing in my life
I lived and breathe for it
It would fuel my desire
becoming more important than air at times
I would feel my heart race at the thought
Seeing their beautiful light illuminate their being
Unconditional.
Unchanging.
Undeniable.
Love.
Is not for me to own
If I were to truly love you
I would let you go
I can watch you grow
I will see you cultivate your dreams
Love is more than us
It is free and abundant
My love runs free and fills every crack and seam of your hearts
My love is sacred yet always shared
Love was always the most natural thing in my life

Ginger
You used to drip on my mind like warm honey
Your words melted into me like milk in my hot tea
They ask me why do I smile when you burn me
You never have been anything less than intense
If you were a tea you would be ginger crystals
If I would brew all of you
I would burn with every sip
My eyes would water and my throat would swell.
I can’t dilute you because you would be bland
So for most of my life I could take you in small doses
Always covering you in honey to protect my palate
For some reason now I don’t need it
I built up my tolerance to your spice
Sometimes ginger tea is the best to heal a cold
but now that I am fully recovered
I can no longer savor you
Maybe in time I’ll warm you back up
You were always my favorite pick me up
So when that day comes I hope you treat me well

Blood is thicker than water
A common saying, false in nature
We are 80% water
Water is the most important
Times when we run clear as summer springs
Times when we freeze over on winter nights
But we never stop the flow
Our outrageous journey
Our special tale of summer highs and icy lows
Yeah cut from different cloths
Two different patterns and styles
But we weave an abundant tapestry
Can’t you see the signs
Zodiac signs
Aries and Libra
Across from one an another
Not one in the same
Oh my Sister sign
Sister Sign
I ask why can’t it always be spring
But I fail to remember fall is never forever
Sisterhood is like the seasons
I can come back with a new name and said I’ve changed but one thing remains same
I will love you Necey.
